Community based organizations that are working with children affected by HIV/AIDS are encouraged to submit an application. Applications will be accepted from July 1 through January 31, 2007. Funding decisions will be announced in May 2007. Most organizations are able to respond to the application in 3-6 pages. Pendulum accepts proposals in any format. If you send a proposal by attached email document, please try to format it to U.S. letter-sized paper (8.5 by 11 inches) so that we do not lose any of your text.

In your proposal please include the following:

A. Contact information
• Contact person's name and title
• Name of organization
• Mailing address (P.O. Box and street address, if available)
• What is the best way to contact you? Please include any and all of the following: telephone, facsimile, telex, cable, e-mail address, and World Wide Web site address.
• How much money are you requesting in US Dollars? (Remember, we only funds grants of $500 to $3,000 USD.) Please summarize your funding request in three sentences. How did you here about The Pendulum Project

B. Tell us your stor. (Give a brief description of the applicant organization.)
• When and why was the organization started?
• In what location(s) are your activities taking place?
• Describe how your organization is operated (management, staffing, and community-involvement).
• Please list the names and titles of your organization's leadership.
• What have been your primary focus and activities to date?
• With which other organizations are you working?
• Please list your sources of funding (other NGO’s, local support, etc)

C. Please give us an overview of how HIV/AIDS has affected the children you serve.
• How many children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS in your locality?
• What is it like to be a vulnerable child or an orphan in your community?
• Do you see differences according to age, gender or HIV status of the child?
• What are the greatest areas of need with respect to children in your community?
• How are these needs currently addressed by you or others?
• How do you identify the children most in need of services?

D. Please give us a description of the project or program proposed for funding.
• What are the proposed activities and goals?
• How do you propose to implement your program?
• Who will provide the leadership and the staffing?
• How many children and/or caregivers will be served?
• Estimate the total number of children your organization will serve as a result of this funding request, broken down by activity where possible.
• How will your organization determine that program's goals have been met?
• How are youth involved in the organization or management of the program?

E. Please provide us with a calendar and budget for your one-year program.
• What is the timeline for the proposed activities?
• Again, tell us how much money is being requested in US dollars by outlining the cost of each of the proposed activities.
• What was your last year's budget and what were the sources of your funding (please specify the different sources and their amounts)? Please spell out the full name of each donor and include an explanation of any in-kind contributions received.
• What is your next year's budget and what are your anticipated sources of funding (please specify the different sources and their amounts)?
• Please include the amount requested from The Pendulum Project in this budget figure.
• Please provide us with a name and contact information for any two local or international organizations that know of your work. We will contact these individuals as your references so please give complete information.
• Please send any additional explanatory materials that may be helpful to us.
